Kansas City Hit by Emerald Ash Borer
You cannot turn the news on in Kansas City and not hear something about the growing threat of the emerald ash borer.
One writer with channel forty one news, estimates more than six million ash trees in the counties surrounding Kansas City metro – that would be 9 counties all together, could actually die, we think that figure is a little high.
However, with a little research the Kansas City Parks and Recreation estimate there are only 4.6 million ash trees in this region.
We’ve had friends and customers alike ask how big a problem is the Emerald Ash Borer?
North America now considers Emerald Ash Borer the most destructive forest pest ever seen.
It’s estimated that if the Emerald Ash Borer is not dealt with, will cost billions of dollars nationwide. Both federal agencies and now our local state agencies are making the infestation of the EAB a priority.
As a homeowner you can help by watching and carefully monitoring your ash trees for signs and symptoms of the Emerald Ash Borer. The symptoms begin to happen at the top of the trees, up in the canopy, not at the base of the trees.
Over on channel 4, they say you have 2 choices when it comes to your ash trees, treat them or just let them die.
A tree is a valuable investment for any homeowner adding value to the home itself.
